We are coming back... Please don't anyone book tickets to visit us.
Have already had a breakin at the house, WE are fine,... Just to start with.. I really don't want to list the details right, I am too upset.. You live and you learn.. I am just glad we are all ok... I have no more cell phone, or camera, so if you need to contact us click on the CAHAL PECH website and the front desk will get a message to us.. I am calling American Airlines tomorrow, figuring out how to get the cats back in to the country, changing our ticket for as soon as possible.. All of the naysayers can say I told you so, but please don't.. It has been an interesting experience, people are friendly (except for the thief who broke into our house) and the owners of the resort connected with the house we rented are refunding us and helping a great deal. We have a night watchman watching us at the house tonight and every night until we leave.
We will most likely be going into Miami, staying in a hotel or something, get a moving truck, and rent a house in St. Augustine like we had originally planned before this brilliant idea, and start over.
It could have been a wonderful experience if poor people didn't have to rob others in their sleep.
Do not worry please,, I will call when I can.. We are FINE.. The kids are still having fun, but there is no way on the planet I will live here..
Thanks for thinking of us,, we will be seeing you soon ~Karen

Sensory Overload!!!
Well wow, we are certainly here and trying to get settled a bit.. Foodshopping has been an experience!! One that only a couple of American Women I know, (you know who you are), would actually choose to do this.. But it's amazing what you can do, if you give it a try. I keep looking at Ron and saying, boy, you know I love you.. Turns out our "Luxury house rental," isn't so luxury.. Missing a few things!! Like, anything for kitchen, ac, except for our one bedroom out of the four, (so mom and dad, don't book those tickets yet!) However, up here in the moutains, we have quite a nice breeze for a normal person :) The people we rented from say, "These things we have requested - like bowls, a colander, dsl, are on the way today, but that can mean anything and we knew that already.." Belize runs slow,, hard to get used to, we'll see... But on the other hand, I walked through a natural butterfly farm to get here just now,, too cool... Have some good pictures of the Market that runs here in San Ignacio, for local fresh vegetables, fish, meats, and other items.. Very neat if you can handle the sun..
The kids are having a ball,, lots of sounds, smells, sights, very different for them, and us..The cats have finally come out of hiding and are alright.. The bites on my arm will go away in time, (after our ordeal of getting oreo in the carrier!)

We are here...
Hey everyone! We just wanted to let all those that are wondering know that we have arrived safely, all intact.. We are settling in, and trying to slow down a bit.. I have no pictures to share yet, haven't located my camera out of our luggage, but I will.. For the moment, we're at the pool with the kids, overlooking the mountains, and enjoying.. Our dsl line isn't installed in the house yet, and on Belize time it might take a few days. We can use the wireless internet connection at the hotel near the house, but it is a bit slow and drops often.
We are thinking of all of you and appreciate your thoughts and concerns for us.. Getting here was a long day with 16 bags, 2 small kids, 2 cats and a double jogging stoller, but thanks to my stapping husband/sherpa, we've made it..

Contacting Us!
Aside from when you all visit us in Belize, we have been setting up a system by which you can all call, and keep in touch, without calling long distance.. Through Skype, we have obtained a local Florida number for those in the U.S. to call, and are forwarding it to a local Belize cell phone.
(Yes, technology exists! I can't promise how well it will work, but it should!)
This is the number for you to try first: 954-603-7843 ~Skype #~ should be free if you have long distance included in your phone plan..
In emergency, or in Belize, try 011-501-625-6075 ~ Our cell ~ (501 is the country code)
Of course, e-mailing will work, and I will add on an address when we have one...

The Plan...
By now you've all heard the rumour, yes, we are moving to Belize, CA.
We have sold our home here in Florida, (no small task) and are giving this lush, small,
crazy country a year-long trial run, to see if it's a fit for our family, and if we can contribute in a meaningful manner as well..
We are leaving on November 1st, and will land in Belize City, moving onward to
The Cayo district of Belize. We have chosen the small mountain town of San Ignacio, http://www.belizex.com/san_ignacio.htm,
near the border of Guatemala as our base to explore the country.
Initially, we are renting a home at http://www.cahalpech.com/, for a few months.
We also have scheduled our first side trip to Placencia, a peninsula on the coast, http://www.placencia.com/
for the holidays. My sister Melissa, is joining us there and will be our first visitor in December.
After much ado, we have rented a beach house at http://www.toucanlulu.com/, which will be another great place to explore, snorkle, dive and fish...
We would also like everyone to know, they are always welcome to visit us, wherever we are.
We Love you all and hope to see you soon!! ~
